Dixie RelicsDixie RelicsThis .69 caliber socket bayonet was produced for use with the Model 1816 series of muskets, most of these were converted to percussion in the 1850s. The bayonet socket has a "T" mortise, no locking ring, and a flat wide blade with no flutes. Strongly marked "U.S." Bayonet measures 21" long overall, 3" long socket, and 18" long blade. This original Civil War socket bayonet was for an H&P (Hewes & Phillips) conversion, or the Remington (with Maynard tape system) conversion muskets. Condition is excellent with bright finish overall with some scattered darker spotting, mostly on blade.
